Grewe is a natural performer. […] The Haydn embodies all the elegance of Grewe herself, the second movement a beautifully flowing, uninterrupted anguish. The opening of the Schumann possesses a strength I couldn’t have expected. As the first movement closes a discomfort descends on the room, as the audience struggle to repress their applause. With the third movement Grewe leaves me broken, devastated emotionally. I can’t thank Schumann enough for a fourth movement which allows us to recover, and Grewe to demonstrate incredible technical skill and stamina. […] Her firm grasp on our heartstrings throughout results in two things. The quietest audience I have experienced in these recitals, and a wild yet entirely justified final applause.
